Overview of

Hôtel Amarys Royal Saint-Jean

15, Rue Charles Domercq, Bordeaux, 33800

Hôtel Amarys Royal Saint-Jean, 3 Star Hotel, Bordeaux, Aquitaine

The building where its 37 guestrooms stand, along 4 storeys, was built in the 18th century as a mansion: as many of the constructions of the time, it was inspired by the fine French architecture, with high arches, slated roofs and stone chimneys. This style had been "imported" by the intendants Boucher and Tourney, who changed the physiognomy of the city.

Not only did they demolish the medieval walls that enclosed the inhabitants, but they also designed many famous squares and created a quarter full of residences in Louis XV style: architects from the king were welcome to add sculptures, wrought iron and stone balconies to the houses and soon many quays in the city had acquired these characteristics.

The Hôtel Amarys Royal Saint-Jean was entirely renovated in 2000, though every year it undergoes some sort of work: for example, 2006 was the turn for the bathrooms. The inn has connection to Internet (for an extra cost), a bar and an abundant breakfast served every morning.
