With its' subtle combination of majestic buildings, dating from the Middle Ages, and the characteristic savors of today's provence, Avignon has become a magnet for cultural tourism. For discerning wine lovers, the choice is vast including the world famous Chateauneuf du Pape. The city has been named European culture capital of the Millennium and both its well known Pont Benezet (the Pont d'Avignon of our children's song) as well as the 14th century Palais des Papes, have been classified by Unesco as cultural heritages.
