Set among vineyards, forests and green hills in the heart of the glorious Beaujolais countryside, yet only 15 miles north of Lyon, the Château de Bagnols offers its guests a unique journey through the history of France. A little-known region of France, the Beaujolais is the hilly area between the Loire and Rhône basins. The Beaujolais' eastern border is the placid Saône River, which empties into the tempestuous Rhône at nearby Lyon. Château de Bagnols lies in the eastern Beaujolais, which has been likened to Tuscany for the beauty of its countryside. The rolling hills covered with vineyards are dotted with hilltop villages, picturesque châteaux, fine churches and farms built from the local pierres dorées (golden stones). |

By Train
From Paris, the high-speed train, the TGV, takes two hours to reach Lyon Part-Dieu or Lyon Perrache stations. From Geneva, the TGV takes two hours to Macon Lôche. Arrangements can be made to meet guests at all stations.
By Car from Lyon / St-Exupéry International Airport
For the 45-minute drive, leave the airport in the direction of Bourg-en-Bresse / Genève, then follow the A432 Lyon / Villefranche. After the toll gate, take the A42 Lyon / Villefranche; at the second toll gate continue on this road. Take the left fork A46 to Villefranche / Paris. Keep on the A46 highway, ignoring the slip road marked Villefranche / Bourg-en-Bresse. After crossing the bridge over the Azeurges River, join the A6 towards Paris. After three kilometres, exit at Villefranche. Follow the directions Roanne / Tarare onto the D38 to Bagnols.
By Car from Paris
Approximately a four-hour drive. At the Villefranche exit off the A6, follow signs to Roanne / Tarare (D38) to Bagnols.
By Car from Geneva
For the two-hour drive, follow signs to Lyon (A42), then Villefranche (A46). Ignore the Villefranche / Bourg-en-Bresse slip road then join the A6 towards Paris. After three kilometres, exit at Villefranche. Follow the directions Roanne / Tarare onto the D38 to Bagnols.
By Car from Lyon
Approximately a 30-minute drive. Take the A6 in the direction of Paris. Exit Limonest. Follow signs for Limonest / Le Bourg, then turn left at the crossroads direction Villefranche N6. After two kilometres, turn left onto the D485 towards Lozanne / Le Bois d'Oingt. After 15 kilometres, turn right onto the D38 towards Bagnols. |
