Discover a unique and beautiful place. Blanche Fleur is a substantial estate, marvellously located between the Lubéron and the Alpilles, 15 minutes from Avignon and 5 minutes from Isle sur la Sorgue. The estate contains a number of medieval buildings which are crammed with history and fascinating to look at. Once used by monks as a woollen mill, it ultimately became a paper mill, and was still in use until about sixty years ago.

Clear, fresh water crosses the site in various little rivers and streams, making it feel rather like being on an island. It's this calming, refreshing water along with the magnificent old plane trees that give Blanche Fleur its special character. Bought as a ruin in 1997 by Marie Claude Ricard, your host, this former paper mill now "maison d'hôtes" has been divided into five sections.

Madame Ricard has restored the old mill, the oldest part of the site, dating back to the 15th century. Back then, this part of the building was used for cleaning and spinning wool, in the later paper-mill period it produced pulp, the first stage of paper production. Next to the old mill you'll find the chapel, which was built in 1691 and will be fascinating to anyone interested in history.

The chapel is still in use and can be used by our guests for weddings. Blanche Fleur has been welcoming guests since July 2001.This traditional provençal house is an ideal retreat for lovers of peace and quiet, the outdoors, music, theatre, and of course French cooking. Blanche Fleur isn't a hotel, it's more like your own home, giving you the options of privacy or sociability to suit your mood.
