Our large swimming pool (10m x 5m) is undoubtedly the main feature of La Ferme from May to September. It is available in the afternoon and evening for our guests. During the warmer months we regularly serve dinner/BBQ around the pool. There is a changing room alongside the pool: its original role was to house the bread oven for the families of the village! The gardens around the house have plenty of shrubs and flowers with several mature trees adding to the peaceful surroundings. |
There are a number of activities for children including swings. Inside the house, there is a well stocked library, a television, cd and DVD player in the main lounge area. Guests can buy drinks from a well stocked fridge in the garage and from our cellar. In the long winter evenings, an open log fire provides a warm welcome for our guests. We regularly organise golf breaks for our golfing guests, using the local courses (there are several within 35 - 50 min of La Ferme). On request, we can serve dinner two times per week and every morning we serve a rich breakfast in the dining room or in the garden, during summer. |

La Ferme is in the countryside just outside the beautiful town of Annecy and its lake. In fact, lakes are a major feature of the area. We are under an hour from Geneva's lake Leman and Aix-les-Bain's lake le Bourget. Each of them has a range of activities to offer, from rowing to wake-boarding, fishing to sailing, swimming to diving. Annecy is rightly famous for its picturesque old town, sitting astride the canals which connect the lake to the river Fier, which flows west to join the Rhone. "La vielle ville" also hosts a vibrant street market three mornings a week: an other attraction which is highly popular for our visitors. The lake itself is of course a major attraction and a boat trip around it, is a must for many of our visitors. The town also boasts several museums and galleries. The area has a superb selection of restaurants, including several which are highly rated by Michelin and Gault-Millau. A number specialise in the various Savoyard and Alpine dishes, which always feature one or more of our famed local cheeses. Some of these are in the small villages dotted around the lake: each of which adds its special character to the area. The town has a good selection of shops, cinemas; its main theatre features a wide range of events throughout the year. The major cities of Lyon and Geneva are also within easy reach by motorway: even a day trip to Turin is not out of the question! At any time of the year, Chamonix, nestling under the stunning Mont Blanc, has to be mentioned. Around an hour's motorway drive from La Ferme, it is another popular day trip for many of our guests. Probably the main event in Annecy's busy tourist calendar is the Fete du Lac, held on the first Saturday of August each year. It is Europe's largest and longest annual orchestrated fireworks display attracting tens of thousands to the town for the weekend. The best tickets get snapped up early! But the beautiful countryside is there throughout the year to be explored and enjoyed by all types of visitors - by car, motorbike, road or mountain bike, skis, snow shoes or on foot - the choice is yours! |
