Le Chateau de L'Ile, 4 Star Hotel, Strasbourg, Alsace

Le Chateau de l`Ile can be found within the town of Ostwald, 8 kilometres from downtown Strasbourg: it is a 10 acres park with the castle and some more recent buildings where the guestrooms and common areas are located. The castle has a history of its own, therefore within its walls you will experience a part of the past in this enchanting region in France.

A number of "chateaux" had been built in Ostwald in Medieval times, the first of which, constructed in 1226, was destroyed 20 years later. In the 17th century, other two castles were established, but time would choose a totally different destiny for both of these fortresses: one disappeared in 1870, while the other received a complete restoration in the end of the 19th century and became Le Chateau de l`Ile. The castle would even serve as the main building of an alternative medicine company, "Les thes du Chateau de l`Ile", owned by René Darbois, son of Jean Antoine, who had acquired the property in 1918.

The company closed at the end of the 1960`s after a declinement process that had begun in the Second World War: the construction was uninhabited until 1994, when it opened as a four-star hotel. The inn features 60 guestrooms of varying categories and two suites that are in fact little apartments. There are also 2 restaurants, one is gastronomic and the other, specialised in Alsacian cuisine- and an indoor pool at the spa.
