The Château de Noizay, a 16th century building, was rebuilt by Georges de Vercle and Andrée lady from Noizay, from 1514 to 1540 on the site of a feudal castle known since the 12th century. Its story was marked during the war between the Protestants and Catholics being the scene of the Amboise conspiracy episodes. In fact in 1560, during the infancy of François II, the Protestants under the instigation of the Prince De Coudé, conspired to abduct the young king, prisoner under the hold of the Guise.

The Prince De Coudé chose La Renaudie as chief for the plot. His troops were under the command of a gentleman called Castelnau. Thus the Duke of Guise frightened by this news gathered his troops and transferred the court from Blois to Amboise, which was easier to defend. It's at that precise moment that the Château de Noizay comes into the history of France.

The conspirators chose it as their headquarters since it was situated quite close to the Château of Amboise. But they lost because of a betrayal, so the Guise then ordered the Duke of Nemours to besiege the Château of Noizay. After a bloody battle, La Renaudie, wounded by a crossbow was brought back to the Amboise Court with his followers and they were hung on the Château's balcony, opposite the Loire as a warning. Since then, the Château de Noizay has become the scene of less bloody adventures and represented throughout the centuries the easy way of life of the Tours region in the Land of the Kings of France.

Thus it belonged to different families until the middle of the 17th century when it was renovated following a fire in the main living quarters. It came down through the ages without aging one bit, and was improved again in 1989 to become this charming private dwelling transformed into a four star hotel while still maintaining its yesteryear's charm.
