 Hotel La Tramontane is located along the main street leading to Saintes Maries de La Mer. The village is famous to be "the capital of Camargue" and the meeting point of gipsy people coming here every year on May to celebrate the "three Maries" with a suggestive procession takes place along the streets of the village. A holiday in Camargue means stunning unspoilt nature, white well-preserved beaches and of fascinating flora and fauna. In the surroundings you will find several ranches for horse riding lessons. A relaxing promenade is the best way to discover the exceptional beauty of this unique land. Goldfinches, barn swallow, house sparrow, black redstart, moorhen, grey heron, tree sparrow and greater flamingo are some of the species that you can see walking or riding in the surroundings. For those who want to have more information about bird species we suggest to visit the Ornithological parc located just few km far from the hotel. It is one of few parks in the world have been able to create such a close harmony with the surrounding environment. Additional places of interest include the picturesque centre of Saintes Maries de La Mer, the Fortified Romanesque church, St. Sarah Crypt, Baroncelli Museum (history and traditions of the village), "Pioch Badet Tzigane" Museum and the pond and salt marshes of Giraud. |
