Profile |
The property was originally built in the 19th century and had to be closed during World War II before Mr and Mrs Maurin bought it the early 1990's. In the mean time it had served as many different shops, from a bakery on the main floor to a wine cellar in the basement. It took the Maurins over 2 years to have this house renovated, keeping and saving as much as possible from the original construction, such as cement or typical Provençal red tiles and wooden floors. |
Finally, the opening as a bed & breakfast took place in 1997, and since that day no renovation has been done, apart from some technical improvements for the comfort of the guests. The house is constructed on a three-level basis: the garden level with kitchen, a stone-arched room for receptions and parties, and the swimming pool; the common rooms and entrance are on the street level and the bedrooms, on the first floor. |
There are six guestrooms at Le Clos du Buis, name that means "the boxwood fence" in English, each of them with a prevailing colour: blue, pink, lime green, green, red and yellow. Bonnieux is a little town 40 minutes from Avignon that has with some of the best views in the Luberon region: the property has a really convenient location, as it is placed within walking distance from the shops, restaurants and art galleries, but out in the countryside, away from the noise of the village, besides de Lower Church. |
